Welcome to Sharkheads Souvenir City

The current Souvenir City

Sharkheads/ Souvenir City were the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s premier gift shops until being knocked down by hurricane Katrina in August of 2005.  The shop originally opened in 1977 and grew throughout the years to the 35,000 square foot shop that was destroyed in 2005.  The operators also have another shop located about a mile west of the previous Sharkheads location called Souvenir City.  Souvenir City was open pre-Katrina and was reopened in June of 2009.  Opening the smaller store allowed the operators to gage the market and get an idea of how much the gulf coast had recovered since the storm in 2005.  Souvenir City carries the same merchandise that was available in Sharkheads and even a few new items.  The store carries everything from brand name merchandise such as Quiksilver and Roxy to our delicious homemade fudge and everything in between.

Sharkheads has been in the development stages since 2007 and was delayed originally to focus on Souvenir City.  Plans have been completed and the new store should be making waves on the gulf coast around the latter part of 2011.  Sharkheads will be located in the same spot it was before the hurricane (on the corner of Rodenburg and HWY 90) between Snappers seafood and the South Beach Condo development.  It will be elevated off the ground with parking underneath, as well as have elevators at each end to carry customers into the store.  It will have the same landmark 32 foot great white sharkhead in the front for a unique picture opportunity.  We appreciate all the loyal customers that allowed us to grow over the years and we look forward seeing you once again.

Sharkheads is expecting to attack the Gulf coast again in 2012
